ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Story
kinako, rooted in the tradition of roasted soybean flour, is associated with comfort and understated richness in japanese culture.
this artwork was created with a broad selection of soft beiges and muted grays, layered in subtle textures.
the main accent of this piece arose from an accident when a small splatter of paint landed on the canvas. instead of acting on the impulse to remove it, a deliberate decision was made to not only keep it, but to embellish it with pure 24k gold leaf.
rather than striving for perfection, wabi-sabi finds beauty in the flawed and the ephemeral, highlighting the uniqueness of objects and moments in their natural state. this painting is a true embodiment of this principle and a reminder to embrace things as they are.
